Job summary

LMI Government Consulting seeks a Transportation Operations Specialist to plan and execute domestic and international movement of autonomous systems, batteries, and related cargo. The role requires on-site support in Tampa, FL and an active TS/SCI clearance.

You will coordinate multimodal movement, develop movement plans, track shipments, ensure compliance with DoD and export regulations, and support exercises and deployments.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multimodal movement of autonomous platforms, payloads and related cargo by air, sea, rail, and ground.
• Develop transportation plans, schedules, routing options, load plans, documentation, and delivery milestones.
• Coordinate with US Transportation Command, military services, installation transportation offices, freight carriers, vendors, customs, and receiving units.
• Move hazardous materials and regulated cargo in compliance with DoD and export rules.
• Support export authorization and compliance for ITAR and EAR.
• Track shipments from origin to delivery and provide status updates.
• Coordinate staging, storage, handling, loading, and final handoff at various locations.
• Develop contingency movement options for denied or disrupted timelines.
• Maintain transportation records, shipping docs, customs info, and audit-ready files.
• Assess capacity, lead times, costs, regulations, and risk to schedules.
• Support exercises, deployments, and recovery operations requiring synchronized movement.
• Prepare movement briefs and risk assessments for leadership.

LMI seeks a Transportation Operations Specialist to plan and execute domestic and international movement of autonomous systems, support equipment, batteries, hazardous materials, and other mission-critical cargo. The specialist coordinates global transportation, storage, customs, export control, and forward-deployment requirements across government and commercial networks. The ideal candidate understands complex military movement operations and delivers accurate, compliant transportation solutions on operational timelines. This position requires on-site support in Tampa, Florida and an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. The position requires periodic travel to supported commands, operational units, exercises, test events, and industry locations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multimodal movement of autonomous platforms, payloads, batteries, support equipment, spare parts, and related cargo by air, sea, rail, and ground.
• Develop transportation plans, movement schedules, routing options, load plans, packaging requirements, documentation, and delivery milestones for domestic and international missions.
• Coordinate with United States Transportation Command, Military Services, combatant commands, installation transportation offices, freight carriers, vendors, customs officials, and receiving units.
• Move hazardous materials, lithium batteries, energetic systems, and other regulated cargo in compliance with applicable Department of Defense, federal, international, carrier, and host-nation requirements.
• Support export authorization and compliance activities associated with International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Administration Regulations.
• Track shipments from origin through delivery, maintain in-transit visibility, resolve exceptions, and provide timely status to operational and logistics stakeholders.
• Coordinate staging, secure storage, handling, loading, unloading, onward movement, and final handoff at operational, test, training, and industry locations.
• Develop contingency movement options for denied, disrupted, or compressed operational timelines.
• Maintain transportation records, shipping documentation, customs information, hazardous material certifications, and audit-ready files.
• Assess transportation capacity, lead times, cost drivers, regulatory constraints, and risk to mission schedules.
• Support exercises, demonstrations, deployments, and recovery operations requiring synchronized movement of personnel and equipment.
• Prepare movement briefs, transportation estimates, risk assessments, and recommended courses of action for leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, supply chain management, operations, business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Four or more years of experience in military transportation, deployment and distribution, freight operations, strategic mobility, hazardous material movement, or a closely related field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Working knowledge of Department of Defense transportation processes, multimodal shipment planning, in-transit visibility, customs, and cargo documentation.
• Experience coordinating movement of sensitive, high-value, hazardous, or mission-critical equipment.
• Knowledge of hazardous material packaging, labeling, handling, documentation, and carrier requirements, and ability to obtain required certifications.
• Working knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, or other export and import compliance requirements.
• Experience coordinating across government transportation organizations, operational units, vendors, carriers, and receiving activities.
• Strong planning, problem-solving, written communication, briefing, and records-management skills.
• Ability to travel and support transportation activities at ports, airfields, installations, ranges, warehouses, and industry locations.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting United States Transportation Command, a combatant command J4, a Service transportation organization, or a Special Operations Forces unit.
• Experience moving uncrewed systems, lithium batteries, munitions-related components, aircraft, vehicles, or other regulated defense cargo.
• Current hazardous material, air transport, surface transport, deployment planning, or load-planning certification.
• Experience with Department of Defense transportation and deployment systems, host-nation coordination, or contingency distribution planning.

Target salary range: $141,000 - $220,000
