Job summary

LMI in Tampa is seeking a Transportation Operations Specialist to plan and execute multimodal movement of autonomous platforms, batteries, and related cargo for domestic and international missions. The role requires coordinating across DoD and civilian networks, generating schedules, load plans, and documentation to meet mission timelines.

A TS/SCI clearance is required, and periodic travel to commands and industry locations is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, supply chain management, operations, business, or related field (or equivalent education).
• Four+ years of military transportation, deployment and distribution, freight operations, strategic mobility, or related field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Knowledge of DoD transportation processes, multimodal shipment planning, in-transit visibility, customs, and cargo documentation.
• Experience coordinating movement of sensitive, high-value, hazardous, or mission-critical equipment.
• Knowledge of hazardous material packaging, labeling, handling, documentation, and certifications.
• Working knowledge of export/import compliance requirements (ITAR/EAR).
• Experience coordinating across government transportation organizations, vendors, carriers, and receiving activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multimodal movement of autonomous platforms, payloads, batteries, support equipment, spare parts, and related cargo by air, sea, rail, and ground.
• Develop transportation plans, movement schedules, routing options, load plans, packaging requirements, documentation, and delivery milestones for domestic and international missions.
• Coordinate with U.S. Transportation Command, military services, combatant commands, installation transportation offices, freight carriers, vendors, customs officials, and receiving units.
• Move hazardous materials, lithium batteries, energetic systems, and other regulated cargo in compliance with applicable DoD, federal, international, carrier, and host-nation requirements.
• Support export authorization and compliance activities associated with ITAR and EAR.
• Track shipments from origin through delivery, maintain in-transit visibility, resolve exceptions, and provide timely status to stakeholders.
• Coordinate staging, secure storage, handling, loading, unloading, onward movement, and final handoff at locations.
• Develop contingency movement options for denied, disrupted, or compressed timelines.
• Maintain transportation records, shipping documentation, customs information, hazardous material certifications, and audit-ready files.
• Assess transportation capacity, lead times, cost drivers, regulatory constraints, and risk to mission schedules.
• Support exercises, demonstrations, deployments, and recovery operations requiring synchronized movement of personnel and equipment.
• Prepare movement briefs, transportation estimates, risk assessments, and recommended courses of action for leadership.

The specialist coordinates global transportation, storage, customs, export control, and forward-deployment requirements across government and commercial networks. The ideal candidate understands complex military movement operations and delivers accurate, compliant transportation solutions on operational timelines. This position requires on-site support in Tampa, Florida and an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. The position requires periodic travel to supported commands, operational units, exercises, test events, and industry locations.

Target salary range: $141,000 - $220,000
