Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. in Michigan is seeking a Transportation Manager to lead outbound operations, plan deliveries and backhaul activity, and drive cost-saving KPIs.

You will supervise transportation operations managers, ensure staffing and training, and provide the highest level of logistics support to the warehouse and stores.

The role requires 5+ years of outbound transportation experience and a Bachelor’s degree; McLane offers competitive pay, Day 1 benefits, and room to grow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.
• 5+ years of outbound transportation experience and knowledge of routing/backhaul procedures.
• 4+ years in accounting, planning, analytics, or reporting; ability to identify financial issues and propose solutions.
• Experience managing large driving staff, including hiring, training, and motivating teammates.
• Preferred: outbound transportation experience at a distribution center and familiarity with Trimble/PeopleNet or similar TMS.
• Proficiency in reading/writing English for work instructions and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour coverage.
• Supervise transportation operations managers and department processes.
• Maintain a properly staffed and trained department delivering logistics support.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate all delivery and backhaul activities.
• Drive KPIs for cost savings.
• Optimize manpower scheduling and training for store-level customer service.
• Handle additional duties and special projects as assigned.
