Job summary

Duke University is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee daily transit operations, coordinate staffing and scheduling, and ensure safe, reliable mobility for students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors. The role requires at least three years in transportation services, NC CDL with Passenger Endorsement, and a commitment to exceptional customer service and safety.

Qualifications

• Three years of transportation services experience required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• North Carolina Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Transportation Operations: Coordinate and oversee daily transit operations, including route scheduling, staffing, vehicle deployment, and service adjustments.
• Manage Scheduling & Staffing: Develop operator schedules, coordinate assignments, substitutions, overtime, vacation coverage, and shift rotations.
• Support Vehicle Maintenance & Safety: Participate in preventive maintenance planning, coordinate repairs, and verify safety and compliance.
• Train & Develop Team Members: Train and coach staff on safe operations, customer service, and procedures; provide feedback.
• Improve Service & Operational Efficiency: Analyze operations, route performance, and equipment utilization; suggest improvements.
• Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: Respond to inquiries, maintain professional communication, and handle service concerns.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties to support Duke Transportation Services.
