Carlex is seeking a Corporate Transportation Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate transportation operations for OE and aftermarket goods. You will work with MP&L Managers to execute logistics strategy efficiently, manage third-party logistics, negotiate rates, and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Logistics industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Strong understanding of government regulations related to supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage logistics strategy for Carlex.
  • Manage spend and reporting for all logistics activities.
  • Direct and manage activities of 3rd party logistics partners.
  • Negotiate rates and optimize transportation costs.
  • Coordinate routes with manufacturing, warehouses and suppliers.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive savings initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.

Job description

The corporate Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, direction, and coordination of all transportation operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective movement of all material and goods related to Carlex’s OE and aftermarket business. This position will work directly with MP&L Managers at each Carlex location to ensure logistics strategy is being executed in most efficient way.**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**Develop, implement, and manage ongoing short and long term logistics strategy for Carlex.Manage all aspects of spend and reporting for all logistics activities for plants and AGSPlan, direct, and manage activities of 3rd party logistics partner(s)Competitively bid Carlex requirements within the market.Negotiate best rates among transportation and logistics costsWork with Carlex manufacturing, warehouse operations, and suppliers to oversee coordination of best cost-effective routesDevelop and measure key performance metrics related to supply chain managementDevelop and execute savings initiatives, involving 3PL and plant MP&L personnelSubmit annual freight estimate for finance budgeting and monthly reportingSubmit monthly freight accrual and supervise freight payment activitiesEnsure transportation activities are compliant with State and Federal regulations in respective areasProvide critical input in new production quotes through management of an ongoing component and inter-company freight cost calculatorTrack SOP / EOP / Part Transfers to identify and proactively manage significant changes to transportation routesSupervise trade advisor services and broker actions to ensure Carlex is compliant with US import and Export regulations.Resolve claim issues as necessaryApprove relevant invoices as they occurREQUIREMENTSExperienceBachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field10+ years of experience in Logistics industry5+ years of experience in manufacturing or warehouse environmentOther Requirements:Highly experienced in, and strong understanding of, government regulations related to supply chainExperience with strategic planning and implementationExperience with the coordination of personnel and resourcesWork beyond traditional 40 hours per week may be required as work load or projects dictates, including weekends and holidaysUp to 75% travel to Carlex facilities on regular basisValid Driver’s license**KEY COMPETENCIES**Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysisExcellent Analytical SkillsExcellent customer service and tactical skillsAbility to lead using Servant Leadership model.Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within internal and external areas, such as Purchasing, Finance, Production, Shipping and Receiving| | | |
