Job summary

Fresh Express Salads is seeking a Transportation Safety/Fleet Manager to supervise the safety and maintenance program, ensuring drivers and equipment stay compliant with DOT, OSHA, and food-safety regulations. The role reports to the Transportation Manager and oversees driver training, audits, and inspections.

Responsibilities include training CDL drivers, onboarding, coordinating maintenance, investigating accidents, and enforcing company standards while maintaining fuel, oils, DEF, and tire

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience maintaining Fleet DOT compliance.
• FMCSA regulations knowledge required.
• Minimum 1-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Bachelor's/Associate's degree and 2-4 years of transportation experience or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and oversee safety training for CDL drivers.
• Coordinate onboarding ensuring DOT/OSHA compliance.
• Oversee truck/trailer maintenance; manage onsite and offsite repairs.
• Monitor the vehicle maintenance program for FMCSR compliance.
• Investigate accidents/incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Transportation Manager on driver training and compliance.
• Monitor inventory of oils, lubricants, and DEF.
• Maintain truck/trailer tire program.
• Conduct recurring safety and maintenance audits.
• Ensure safe, clean maintenance shop environment.
• Order maintenance parts and lubricants as needed.
• Perform DOT Driver/Equipment Safety Audits.
• Train and enforce company policies, DOT, OSHA, and food safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned

1st Shift 6:00am - 3:00pm

The Transportation Safety/Fleet Manager shall supervise the safety/maintenance program by assuring drivers and company equipment maintain regulatory compliance through ongoing training, audits, and inspections. The Transportation Safety/Fleet Manage will maintain Driver training files, Driver DOT Driver qualification files, and all equipment DOT/Maintenance files.

Job Responsibilities:

• Deliver and/or oversee yearly safety training for all CDL drivers.
• Coordinate all CDL drivers onboarding assuring compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.
• Oversee truck/trailer maintenance, to include onsite maintenance team and offsite repairs.
• Monitor the vehicle maintenance program to ensure compliance with the FMCSR and applicable laws.
• Conduct accident/incident investigation, determine the root cause of the issue, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Work alongside the Transportation Manager to conduct ongoing driver training and enforce all government regulations, best practices, and company standards.
• Monitor inventory of all oils, lubricants, and Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF)
• Maintain proper truck/trailer tire program.
• Conduct recurring audits to ensure all equipment stays in safe, working condition.
• Ensure maintenance shop is a safe and clean work environment.
• Order maintenance parts, equipment and lubricants as needed.
• Perform DOT Driver/Equipment Safety Audits.
• Interpret, train, and consistently enforce company policies, protocols and procedures including but not limited to DOT, recordkeeping, OSHA, food safety, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2+ years' experience maintaining Fleet DOT compliance
• Working knowledge of FMCSA Department of Transportation Driver Regulations
• Working knowledge of FMCSA equipment Maintenance/preventative Maintenance regulation
• Minimum of one-year supervisory experience, strongly preferred
• Bachelor's/ Associate's degree and 2-4 years of transportation experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft office
• Driving experience preferred, but not required
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
