Summary

Provides supervision, coordination and disposition of the assets assigned to SWS Simplot Transportation in order to insure customer product movement needs are met and they are consistent with Company standards for quality, cost and service requirements to and for our customers. As well as, being responsible for generating market development activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for identifying and developing profitable market development opportunities; for sales, pricing, and market analysis; and for managing business relationships with contract carriers and other vendors to maximize company profitability.
  • Manage compliance with all required business unit, company, and regulatory agency policies and procedures. Agencies include DOT, OSHA and EPA. Business unit includes Merit Bonus Program, Cumulative Safety Program, and Operating Safety Rules.
  • Responsible for maximizing fleet productivity to achieve lowest operating costs consistent with customer service requirements. Supervise maintenance and repair of assets to ensure the defined maintenance goals are achieved consistently and operating schedules are met.
  • Responsible for supervising the monitoring of performance against schedule and modifying the schedule to meet changing requirements during the shift. This position is responsible for the scheduling of all assets at the assigned to the business. This is accomplished by utilization of appropriate types of equipment such as versatile trailers, tankers, vans, reefers, flatbeds, etc.
  • Supervise drivers and staff within the transportation department. Responsible for supervising hourly employees; this includes performance reviews, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing employee complaints and resolving employee problems utilizing other resources such as HR when needed.
Typical Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
  • 5 plus years related experience and/or training in a distribution related field.
Additional Skills & Capabilities
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in transportation.
  • Ability to work as a part of the management team and oversee multiple employees.
