Job summary

State of Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a DOT Intern for District Four in Fort Lauderdale. The role offers a 20-hour work week at a starting wage of $17.25 per hour, with responsibilities across plans, estimates, and specification preparation while rotating through the Program Management office to gain hands-on experience.

Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited university and be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university, college, or vocational/technical school for the duration of participation.
• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• Must be a United States citizen or lawfully authorized to work; visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Assist with performing plans and quality control review.
• Assist with cost estimates on construction projects.
• Assist with developing and preparing specification packages for in-house projects.
• Assist with ensuring compliance on Project Quality Control Plan (PQCP).
• Assist with pay item numbers, pay item requests, and resolving pay item issues on projects.
• Verify project information is correct and includes necessary pay items/quantities for a complete cost estimate.
• Assist project managers and designers during production with Digital Delivery procedures.
• Assist in developing and maintaining evaluations and tracking system for submittals.
