Job summary

Florida Department of Transportation in DeLand, FL offers a part-time internship (DOT INTERN - D5) providing hands-on exposure across transportation disciplines under supervision.

Participants will work in one of several focus tracks (Engineering, Transportation, Business, or Self-Designed) to gain experience in planning, project management, and operations while building professional skills. Applicants must be 18+, authorized to work in the U.S., and meet program requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide identification supporting citizenship or authority to work for the duration of program participation.
• Participants are required to comply with all statutes and rules and the Department’s policies, procedures, regulations, and Code of Ethics.
• Special REQUIREMENTS: You will be required to provide your Social Security Number to conduct required verifications. Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962... unless they are registered with the Selective Service System.

Responsibilities

• Gain general knowledge, and perform technical tasks within one of the following focus tracks.
• Engineering Track — STEM majors with exploration of professional engineering roles.
• Transportation Track — exploration of transportation systems and agency contributions to safety and efficiency.
• Business Track — exploration of the business side of running the agency.
• Self-Designed Track — students may pursue specified focus areas based on interests.
