Qualifications

  • Pursuing a civil engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Interest in civil engineering in aviation industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred: experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Learn and apply AASHTO LRFD and related standards.
  • Develop bridge plans including layouts, substructures, and superstructures.
  • Visit bridge construction sites to relate plans to field work.
  • Read design codes and communicate effectively; eager to learn.

Transportation Intern - Bridge, Little Rock, Arkansas

Our experienced, fast‑paced North Little Rock Bridge Team is seeking a civil engineering student for an internship. This intern will be mentored by our dynamic team and exposed to many aspects of bridge design, bridge rehabilitation and replacement, and inspection for a variety of projects.

Internship Description
  • Further develop skills learned in the classroom by participating in the design of steel and reinforced concrete structures
  • Become familiar with AASHTO LRFD and other standards used in bridge design
  • Be an active member in developing plans for all components of bridges (layouts, substructures, superstructures), typically in Bentley’s MicroStation
  • Visit the site of a bridge being actively constructed to strengthen understanding of what is detailed in plans
  • Successful candidate will be able to read and interpret design codes, communicate effectively, and be willing to learn

Work Environment

This is an in‑office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work‑related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
