Job summary

Alvarado Independent School District seeks a Director of Transportation to lead district transportation operations and fleet maintenance. You will ensure safe, on-time student transport and oversee vehicle upkeep for all district-owned assets.

Immediate start with governance over routes, staff, and budgets. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, TX CDL with P and S endorsements, and supervisory experience in transportation, with TAPT/NAPT preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and Texas CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
• Texas Certification as Transportation Official (TAPT or NAPT) preferred.
• Three years supervisory experience in transportation and fleet operations.
• Experience as a bus driver.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage district transportation operations and fleet maintenance.
• Oversee bus routes, schedules, and future transportation planning.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state laws and safety standards.
• Manage department budget, staff, and procurement processes.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate transportation staff.
