Operations Coordinator of Transportation
LOCATION: Transportation - South - 911
Assist the Director of Transportation and Assistant Director of Transportation with the supervision of the transportation department by ensuring a safe and efficient operation.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support to the Director and Assistant Director in transportation operations.
- Oversee budgeting and the requisition, distribution, and accounting of departmental resources and fixed assets.
- Supervise and oversee routing and scheduling personnel to ensure efficient and effective route services in accordance with District procedures.
- Supervise and direct safety and training personnel in the development and implementation of efficient training procedures.
- Promote the development and/or improvement of safety, reliability, and customer service within the department.
- Interview and make recommendations for employment/dismissal of all Transportation Department employees.
- Responsible for evaluations and discipline of employees.
- Communicate transportation policies and procedures to campus staff to ensure compliance, clarity, and consistent implementation, while addressing questions and concerns.
- Lead, train, and motivate employees and maintain good morale amongst employees.
- Provide accurate and timely information for School Transportation Route Services and Operations reports.
- Oversee payroll staff to ensure transportation employees are compensated accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Oversee the development and coordination of departmental objectives, special projects, plans, and improvement initiatives.
- Oversee the development and implementation of departmental memorandums, manuals, and publications documenting department District and department policies, practices and procedures.
- Facilitate and supervise the drug and alcohol-testing program for the assigned transportation center.
- Manage and coordinate multiple divisions within the department through department managers/supervisors and lead trainer.
- Provide school bus route coverage when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- 5 years’ experience in bus transportation
- 3 years’ experience in personnel management
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Texas Pupil Transportation Official Certification (must obtain within one calendar year of the date of hire)
- Valid Class B Texas Commercial driver’s license with Passenger & School Bus Endorsements (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
- Current and valid Texas School Bus Driver Safety Training Certification (must be able to obtain within 90 days of employment)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively and supervise personnel
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills
- Working knowledge of budgeting and computerized routing systems
- Knowledge of campus procedures and ability to collaborate with principals and staff
- Knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) reporting requirements and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations related to school bus transportation
- Must pass randomly administered drug and alcohol tests
- Ability to work effectively with students and parents

SALARY
PAY GRADE: AB-3 - Minimum pro-rated salary - $76,395
