Job description

At Lexington Maintenance, performs inspection duties in specialized areas. Areas of inspection may include asphalt repair, concrete repair (sidewalk, curb and gutter, catch basin), guardrail, cable rail, and fence repair, driveway installation, and A-treatment. Verify quantities completed so that correct payment can be made. Inspect behind contractors to ensure they are working according to specifications and standards set. Ensure quality and quantity of work is satisfactory before advising payment. Measures and compiles quantities for repairs of asphalt, concrete, guardrail and cable rail in order to complete purchase orders. Maintains record of all quantities of materials used in repair or restructure of asphalt, guardrail, concrete, and fence. Ensures any bids received follow the policies of procurement. Have good math skills in order to complete quantities of materials needed to complete jobs. Keeps accurate records so that payment can be made as work is completed. Reviews, ensures accuracy, inspects and follows up on application for encroachment permits. Also ensures it is entered correctly into the EPPS system. Interprets technical reports and plans as they relate to encroachment permits. Communicates with engineering firms and the public. Reviews, inspects, and follows up with damage claims that are received for damage guard cable rail. Ensures that all information is accurate andprepared for signatures and then return information to claims office in headquarters. Reviews, ensures accuracy, inspects and follows up on application for encroachment permits. Also ensures it is entered correctly into the EPPS system. Interprets technical reports and plans as they relate to encroachment permits. Communicates with engineering firms and the public. Performs duties during hazardous weather or emergencies as assigned by direct supervisor or RME.

A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position requires driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.

May be required to work overtime, nighttime, and/or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies.
