Conducts technical activities related to surveying, construction inspection, and materials testing, including field studies and surveys to collect technical data. Independently inspects construction projects, collects required samples and certifications, and prepares reports documenting inspection results. Instructs and provides guidance to other inspectors in inspection procedures and survey verification. Assists project managers with monthly estimates in Site Manager and project closeout activities, including final quantities and as-built drawings. Participates in project related meetings. Coaches, counsels, and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes, implements management policies and initiatives, and promotes teamwork within the organization. Maintains equipment to ensure it is clean and properly calibrated in accordance with annual requirements. Assists with the preparation of designs, drawings, plans, and specifications for construction projects, engineering systems, technical equipment, or components. Performs other related duties as assigned.

A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position requires driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.

A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
