The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 7 (Frederick County) is recruiting for a Transportation Engineering Technician II. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used for future vacancies within SHA.
A Transportation Engineering Technician (TET) II performs duties in maintenance and construction areas such as highways, ramps, buildings, parking areas, bridges, and snow removal. Responsibilities include working with contractors to install guardrails, repair paving, highway lighting, line striping, herbicide spraying, tractor mowing, tree and brush cutting, inlet repairs, roadway sweeping, snow removal, traffic maintenance, and crack sealing. The role involves keeping detailed work records like Inspector Daily Reports, Construction Logs, and eTAC cards, which are entered into the Ledger Book. This position provides foundational professional experience to ensure daily maintenance operations in the Frederick facility are performed correctly, safely, and according to standards. A CDL is required for winter operations. The role is on-call 24/7 for highway emergencies and natural disasters and is considered essential personnel. FMT duties may also be assigned.

Selective Qualification: Must have one year of facility maintenance, construction, or utility experience.
Notes:
Candidates must possess a valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license in Maryland.
This position is essential and requires being on call 24/7 for emergencies and disasters.
