Job Description

ATCS is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team as a Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager in our Glen Allen VA office.

This is an exciting opportunity to support and shape our roadway design services group in Virginia. The individual will perform a variety of engineering tasks relative to VDOT and various municipal roadway design projects. The responsibilities require a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented attitude with progressively increasing design and management capabilities. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days per week required onsite in the Glen Allen office and up to 2 days working remotely.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily responsibilities may include project design, task management, client contact, and quality control.
  • Development of roadway construction documents, specifically roadway plans, profiles, typical sections, maintenance of traffic plans, cost estimating and planning.
  • Preparing reports and studies.
  • Preparing for, attending, and participating in public meetings.
  • Directing others in performing designs for various roadway infrastructure projects based on AASHTO, VDOT, and local municipality requirements; reviewing and managing designs prepared by others.
  • Coordinating with contractors, utility companies, and government agencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in roadway design – preferably in Virginia.
  • Professional Engineer’s license in VA is required; will consider other states with the commitment of obtaining a Virginia PE within 6 months of starting employment.
  • MicroStation ORD experience.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT, and regional design standards, practices, and policies.

Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $79,200 to $133,650 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target of 2% of the employee's annualized salary. In addition to compensation, ATCS offers outstanding, employee-focused benefits for you and your family.
