About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking engineering consultancy based in Welkom, Free State , is seeking a talented Transportation Engineer to spearhead the development of innovative urban mobility solutions. This role focuses on improving traffic flow, enhancing public transportation systems, and implementing sustainable transport strategies for the growing Welkom area. The successful candidate will be responsible for traffic studies, transportation planning, and the design of road networks and intersections. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive traffic impact assessments and demand forecasting.
• Develop transportation plans and strategies for urban and regional areas.
• Design road layouts, intersection improvements, and traffic control systems.
• Utilize traffic modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA) for analysis and design.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with urban planners, municipal authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Evaluate the feasibility and impact of new transportation infrastructure projects.
• Promote the integration of sustainable transport modes, including cycling and public transit.
• Oversee project implementation and provide technical guidance during construction phases within Welkom .

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering. Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) registration with ECSA. A minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering, traffic analysis, and road design. Proficiency in traffic simulation and modeling software. Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, geometric design standards, and South African road regulations. Experience in public transport planning and non-motorized transport infrastructure design is advantageous. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage project timelines in Welkom .
