ICE is seeking a Schematic Design Engineer to join our Houston or San Antonio office. You will lead schematic development for highways and roadways, coordinating with roadway, traffic, drainage, environmental, and structures teams.
The ideal candidate has 8–12 years of transportation design experience, a Texas PE, and proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads. This role emphasizes client engagement, project leadership, and delivering compliant technical solutions.
Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a dedicated and talented Schematic Design Engineer to join our team in Houston or San Antonio, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative solutions that enhance the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure in the region.
Capabilities should include knowledge of preliminary and final roadway design, and familiar with appropriate software used to design. Experienced in preparing schematic designs for complex interchanges, urban freeways, rural highways, toll roads, county road and city streets. Should be familiar with TxDOT Roadway Design Manual and City of Houston design criteria.
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. During fieldwork, the engineer may be exposed to different environments with loud noise, dust, dirt, changing temperatures, and must be able to move skillfully around construction sites.
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule; some night and weekend work may be required.
