Job summary

Baxter & Woodman in Peoria Heights, IL seeks a Transportation Engineer Project Manager to lead design efforts for state, county, tollway, and local agency projects. Responsibilities include oversight of IDOT Phase I/II bid documents, civil design, and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.

Ideal candidate has a B.S. in Civil Engineering, a PE license, 10+ years of IDOT/local agency bid experience, and willingness to travel within Illinois.

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Manage/Complete engineering plans and specifications production using IDOT Standards.
• Lead IDOT or Local Agency Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Lead projects including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic and infrastructure improvements.
• Provide general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist with business development and client management opportunities.
• Prepare project proposals, contracts and teaming arrangements; participate in interviews.

Your future position: Transportation Engineer Project Manager

Location: Peoria Heights, IL

About the role

Baxter & Woodman offers a rewarding opportunity for a highly motivated transportation engineer looking for career advancement. This position will primarily consist of design leadership and development of a variety of transportation projects for State, County, Tollway, and Local Agencies. Experience completing IDOT or Local Agency Phase I and II bid documents is required – experience managing these types of projects is a plus. This team oriented position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

What your day-to-day will look like

• Manage/Complete engineering plans and specifications production using IDOT Standards.
• Manage/Complete IDOT or Local Agency Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Lead a variety of projects and study types including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
• Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist with business development and client management opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects is preferred but not required.
• Help prepare project-specific proposals, contract preparation, and teaming arrangements, and participate in project interviews.

Education & License Requirements

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.

Must-haves, what you will bring

• 10+ years’ experience completing IDOT or Local Agency Phase II bid documents.
• Microstation/Open Roads Designer capabilities preferred with an understanding of IDOT workflow.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s Illinois service areas (own transportation) and attend client and in office meetings as required.
• Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
