Job summary

Fehr & Peers, a transportation engineering and planning firm, seeks a Transportation Engineer or Planner with 2–4 years of experience in Riverside, CA. You will build on a strong technical foundation and begin taking ownership of projects, shaping approaches, leading teams, and mentoring others.

You’ll work on planning and engineering projects—from bike/pedestrian to transit forecasting—and contribute to client relations while growing into a project manager.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in transportation planning or engineering.
• Experience applying transportation analysis techniques with increasing independence.
• Experience in at least one of: transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation design, complete streets, traffic operations analysis, or travel demand modeling.
• Proficiency with GIS, CAD, and transportation modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead tasks and manage projects, including coordinating scope, schedule, and budget.
• Apply standard and intermediate analytical techniques independently, with appropriate guidance.
• Contribute to project approaches, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Prepare clear, well-organized technical reports, memos, and presentations.
• Participate in and lead client meetings and support relationship development.
• Mentor entry-level staff and interns, including delegating, reviewing work and providing guidance.
• Assist with proposal efforts and business development initiatives.
• Balance multiple assignments while managing your own workload effectively.
• Conduct site visits and field data collection as needed.
• Embrace opportunities to learn and adopt new tools and technologies to improve day-to-day work.
