Job summary

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer Intern for our Herndon, VA office for the 2027 internship period. The paid internship runs May through August 2027 with potential to become a Full-Time Junior Engineer role after graduation.

Successful candidates will work under Project Managers and Team Leaders, gaining hands-on experience in regulatory reviews, cost estimates, data management, and client reports while receiving guidance from experienced staff.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or related field
• Minimum GPA of 3.0; strong communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic technical abilities
• Self-motivated, detail oriented, eager to learn and grow

Responsibilities

• Support project tasks including regulatory requirements, cost estimates, research, procurement support
• Perform data entry, management, evaluation, and presentation
• Assist in preparing reports, plans, and specifications for clients
• May work on field assignments as needed
• Receive mentorship from leaders and teammates
• Carry out related duties as required
