Job summary

Baxter & Woodman Inc. in Illinois seeks an entry-level Transportation Engineer to contribute to design and construction of municipal, county, and state transportation projects across Bannockburn, Chicago O’Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, and Mokena offices.

You will learn on the job while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, performing analyses, and delivering engineering plans using Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer. The role offers growth in a respected firm.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design Roadway, Underground Utility, and Infrastructure improvements using Bentley OpenRoads Designer or Civil 3D.
• Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
• Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Complete engineering plans and specifications using IDOT Standards.
• Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required for project delivery.

About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an entry-level Transportation Engineer in our Bannockburn, Chicago O’Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL office. This position will primarily consist of design and construction engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant internship/co-op experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
• Anticipated F.E. (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
• Knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with Geopak.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $74,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
