Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol in Atlanta seeks a Mid-level Transportation Engineer to join our team as an individual contributor with project management responsibilities on surface transportation design projects.

You will develop design scopes, support RFPs and procurement for design-build projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with clients and regulatory agencies to deliver safe, durable road and bridge solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering; required
• 7-10 years in transportation engineering design; advanced degree may reduce experience needs
• PE licensure in Georgia or reciprocity within 6 months; required
• Advanced competency in surface transportation design from concept to final design; ORD/AutoCAD/MS Office
• Strong knowledge of state DOT standards; experience with design scopes, RFPs, procurement

Responsibilities

• Performs design project management tasks for surface transportation projects from conceptual to final design
• Develops design scopes of services for design-build projects and/or client templates
• Provides engineering design input, RFP development, and procurement assistance for design-build projects
• Develops specifications, cost estimates, and prepares final bid packages
• Coordinates design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
• Participates in project management decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling
• Maintains relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, state DOTs, and private clients
• Mentors junior engineers in conceptual design plans for roadways, bridges, drainage, and markings
• Identifies schedule and cost variances and recommends corrective actions
