Job summary

HDR's Transportation Engineer will serve as an assistant project manager or task leader on transportation engineering projects, coordinating the design team through design development and contract document phases, and coordinating with subconsultants and clients to keep the project on schedule and within budget.

You will prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; prepare design documentation, calculations, and technical memorandums; develop design variations from standards; and mentor

Primary Responsibilities

HDR's Transportation Engineer will: serve as an assistant project manager or task leader for transportation engineering projects of various sizes and complexity, coordinating the work of the design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project and coordinating with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; participate in interviews and presentations for new pursuits; prepare, design, or produce elements of contract plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation-related civil engineering projects using state, county, and city or other applicable standards, including Roadway Sections, Intersection Layout, Interchange Layout, Horizontal and Vertical Alignment, Right of Way Plans, Temporary Erosion Control Plans, Site Preparation Plans, Transportation Profiles, Retaining Wall Plans, Drainage Plans and Profiles, Utility Plans, Paving, Pavement Marking Plans, Signing Plans, and Traffic Control Plans; prepare design documentation, calculations, design reports, and technical memorandums that document design decisions; prepare design variations or exceptions from applicable standards; work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; implement project quality plans; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
