Job summary

Wilberforce University is seeking Transportation Drivers – CDL and Non-CDL to safely transport students and university staff between campus sites and other locations to fulfill work and study obligations. CDL holders may travel longer distances or overnight for university events.

The role requires punctuality, a clean driving record, and the ability to work flexible hours; a background check is required and a high school diploma or GED is expected.

Qualifications

• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of all safety laws and regulations and required to possess an Ohio driver’s license and/or a CDL as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Check in with Supervisor for directives, driving assignments, van keys and phone/radio.
• Complete Van Inspection Sheet at beginning of each shift.
• Be on time for all pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Only drop-off and pick-up students at the designated locations.
• Clean vehicles at end of shift for next shift.
• Designated attire must be clean, pressed, neatly maintained, and always worn properly in its entirety.
• Professionalism will NOT be compromised for comfort in clothing.
• Other duties as designated by Supervisor.

Position Overview

The university is looking for both non-CDL and CDL certified drivers. The primary purpose of the position

is to safely transport students and other university employees who are required to travel between campus

sites or to other locations to fulfill their work and school related obligations. Those with CDL credentials

may be required to travel longer distances or overnight for university related events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

• Check in with Supervisor for directives, driving assignments, van keys and phone/radio.
• Complete Van Inspection Sheet (oil, windshield wiper, brake, anti-freeze and transmission fluids) at beginning of each shift.
• Be on time for all pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Only drop-off and pick-up students at the designated locations.
• Clean vehicles at end of shift for next shift.
• Designated attire must be clean, pressed, neatly maintained, and always worn properly in its entirety.
• Professionalism will NOT be compromised for comfort in clothing.
• Other duties as designated by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• A satisfactory background check is required
