Job summary

Qualifications

  • Clean driving record; no more than two points in the last three years.
  • No OVI/DUI or reckless convictions in the last ten years.
  • Must meet insurability requirements and pass a DOT physical and drug screening.

Job Description:

SUMMARY

Develops and facilitates training for students of the College's Transportation Center, including leadership and control of classroom activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Teaches students skills and knowledge necessary to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A driver's license
  • Monitors attendance and maintains student records
  • Assists in program compliance with State requirements
  • Performs and documents daily safety inspections of equipment such as trucks, trailers, bus and pickup trucks
  • Provides weekly status reports to the Director
  • Maintains daily attendance verification and provides weekly documentation to the Coordinator
  • Maintains student record audits, including attendance, performance, sign off by students and instructors for attendance, training and comments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three years of verifiable CDL Class "A" driving experience in all weather conditions
  • CDL Class "A" license with all endorsements except Hazardous Materials, Passenger and School Bus
  • Verifiable clean driving record with no more than two (2) points and/or two (2) moving violations in the previous three years from application date
  • No record of Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated (OVI), Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Reckless Operation convictions in the past 10 years
  • Must meet the College’s insurability requirements
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screening examination
  • No felony convictions within the previous ten years from application date; must be capable of passing Ohio BCI and FBI background checks
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations

  • Ability to stand and walk a large portion of the work day
  • Ability to work a variety of flexible morning, evening, and weekend shifts as needed
  • Possesses working knowledge of transportation concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Target Starting Salary Range: $48,000 to $53,000 The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).

Special Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure .
