Bay Path University in Longmeadow, MA is seeking a part-time Supervisor: Student Activities and Transportation Coordinator to safely transport students, faculty and staff between the Longmeadow Campus and off‑campus locations. Flexible hours and driving‑related safety requirements apply.

The role focuses on operating university vehicles, maintaining trip records, reporting issues, and assisting during emergencies. You will support student activities and transportation operations as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

Safely transport Bay Path University students, faculty and staff to and from various locations on and off campus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Safely transport students, faculty and staff to and from various locations on and off campus in a prompt and courteous manner.


• Be accessible to passengers during trips and available for assistance in the event of an emergency.


• Handle vehicle problems and assist in the event of an accident.


• Report any vehicle problems, repairs or maintenance needs via pre and post trip inspection paperwork and verbally to direct supervisor and/or maintenance / facilities.


• Communicate with Student Activities and Transportation Coordinator upon return of student trips to inform of problems or issues that occurred during the trip.


• Fuel vehicle upon return from trip.


• Removal of trash and minor cleanup of vehicle at conclusion of each shift.


• Attend trainings as required.


• Other duties as assigned.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to work flexible hours. If you operate a University owned, leased or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including terminations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires sitting, walking, and standing. Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs (though rarely) and work in uncontrolled climate areas.

• Sufficient manual dexterity in both hands and feet to safely operate motor vehicle.


• Visual ability corrected, to observe and detect signs of dangerous obstacles and to verify written information either at a distance and/or at close range.


• Audio ability corrected, to hear emergency alerts and other audible alarms.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid driver’s license.


• Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.


• Must successfully pass safe driving course within 30-days of employment.


• Failure to successfully complete the course within the 30-day period is grounds for immediate termination.


• Submit to and pass criminal offender records check (C.O.R.I.).


• Submit to and pass pre-employment drug screening and/or physical duties test.


• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.


• General knowledge of the University’s mission, purpose and goals and the role this position plays in achieving those goals.
