Emerald Nursing & Rehab Lancaster is seeking a Transportation Driver to safely transport residents to appointments, activities, and other destinations, ensuring timely and comfortable service.

This full-time role with rotating weekends requires indoor/outdoor work, vehicle checks, and close collaboration with staff and families to coordinate reliable transportation and uphold compassionate resident care.

Qualifications

• Valid Nebraska driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience in driving or transportation, preferably in healthcare/senior care.
• Physical ability to lift and assist residents and perform vehicle-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents to medical appointments, therapy, and activities.
• Perform routine vehicle checks and report issues.
• Adhere to traffic laws and facility policies for safety.
• Assist residents entering/exiting vehicles ensuring safety.
• Maintain schedules, mileage logs, and incident reports.
• Coordinate transportation with staff, families, and providers.
• Handle emergencies calmly and coordinate with responders if needed.
• Provide professional, empathetic resident interactions.

Job Summary

The Transportation Driver at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Lancaster is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting residents to and from appointments, activities, and other destinations as required. This role ensures that residents receive timely, reliable transportation while maintaining the highest standards of safety and comfort.

Work Environment

Role involves working both indoors and outdoors, including handling vehicle-related tasks and interacting with residents in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Resident Transport: Safely transport residents to medical appointments, therapy sessions, social activities, and other destinations as scheduled.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on transportation vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any issues to the maintenance department.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws and facility policies regarding vehicle safety and resident transportation.
• Assistance and Support: Provide assistance to residents entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, mileage, and any incidents or observations during trips.
• Communication: Coordinate with facility staff, family members, and external providers to ensure effective and timely transportation arrangements.
• Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, including coordinating with emergency services if needed.
• Customer Service: Exhibit professionalism and empathy while interacting with residents, family members, and facility staff. Address any concerns or special requests with a positive attitude.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Nebraska driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience: Previous experience in a driving or transportation role preferred, particularly within a healthcare or senior care environment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and assist residents as needed and to handle physical tasks related to vehicle operation and maintenance.
