Fishbeck in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern (Drainage Focus) to support the planning, analysis and design of stormwater and roadway drainage for transportation projects.

You will gain hands-on experience working with engineers on projects ranging from local road improvements to major transportation infrastructure developments, including field data collection and hydrologic calculations.

Qualificações

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar design software is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative team environment.
• Previous internship, coursework, or project experience related to transportation or water resources is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with storm sewer, culvert, and roadway drainage design for transportation projects.
• Perform basic hydrologic and hydraulic calculations under the direction of project engineers.
• Support the development of drainage reports, permit applications, and technical documentation.
• Assist with preparing construction plans, profiles, details, and exhibits using Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
• Review survey, topographic, and utility data to support project design.
• Participate in field visits to collect data and observe existing drainage infrastructure and construction activities.
• Support stormwater management and water quality design efforts.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project teams across multiple disciplines.
