Job Description

The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling drivers to pick up or deliver loads to customers and serves as a point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal departments, such as Billing. Responsibilities include answering calls, monitoring emails, troubleshooting shipment issues, compiling drivers’ paperwork, and ensuring customers are serviced in a timely manner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plan schedules and dispatch drivers, monitor routes, and proactively plan to avoid delays
2. Daily interaction with drivers, maintenance employees, and Sprint personnel from other terminals
3. Answer driver/customer calls and assist with troubleshooting
4. Coordinate with customers and drivers for timely pick-ups and deliveries
5. Coordinate logistics of daily workload for drivers, as well as with shop management
6. Serve as a liaison between drivers and office administration
7. Participate in some nightly and weekend on-call responsibilities
8. Perform other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in transportation or logistics work
• Proficient in email (Outlook), Microsoft Excel, and internet data-searching skills
• Experience using truck management software; familiarity with TMW software is a plus
• Excellent communication (written & verbal), interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Service-oriented mindset
• Ability to prioritize daily workload using solid time-management skills
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not required
