ChildNet, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit community-based care (CBC) agency servicing Broward and Palm Beach County. We are contracted with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families, to provide case management support to abused, abandoned, and neglected children. ChildNet is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and employs over 600 staff at its location in Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Job Summary:

The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the daily transportation needs of children and youth served by the organization and the supervision of the transportation departments.

Essential Functions:

  • Review and process transportation requests submitted through the agency's transportation portal by assigning drivers based on service needs, geographic location, driver availability, and scheduling efficiency.
  • Prioritize transportation requests based on agency guidelines, court orders, appointment times, and operational needs.
  • Create and assign daily transportation routes to drivers, maximizing efficiency while ensuring timely and safe transportation services.
  • Coordinate transportation for school, family visitations, medical appointments, court hearings, placement changes, and other agency-approved activities.
  • Monitor routes throughout the day and adjust assignments in response to cancellations, emergencies, traffic delays, staffing shortages, or other operational changes.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts or service gaps and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Communicate route assignments, schedule changes, and transportation updates to drivers, Transportation Supervisors, case managers, caregivers, schools, and program staff.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support and coordination to two Transportation Supervisors to ensure adequate staffing, route coverage, and service delivery.
  • Monitor driver availability, attendance, and workload, adjusting as needed to maintain uninterrupted transportation services.
  • Ensure all transportation assignments comply with agency policies, child safety standards, confidentiality requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of transportation requests, route assignments, dispatch logs, mileage, cancellations, and completed trips.
  • Generate reports related to transportation requests, route efficiency, service delivery, and operational performance.
  • Participate in emergency transportation planning and after-hours coordination as needed.
  • Supervise the two county-based Transportation Supervisors
  • Ensure monthly fleet maintenance and inspections are adhered to.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:
Years of Expereince:
  • Three (3) years’ experience in transportation dispatching, scheduling, logistics or a related field
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
  • Associate Degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Abilities Required:
  • Ability to make complex decisions and balance the needs of stakeholders involved.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite programs.
  • Ability to manage execution and direct the work of others towards task completion.
  • Knowledge of fleet scheduling platforms
  • Ability to provide high customer satisfaction with positive service delivery results
