Job summary

DOWL is seeking an entry-level Transportation Designer 1 to perform basic calculations, design and drafting for transportation projects such as sidewalks, roads, and highways. You will work under a licensed professional engineer, learning 2D/3D design concepts and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes growth, basic drafting fundamentals, and communicating effectively within a project team while supporting more experienced staff on assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or similar field is required.
• EIT/EI certification within 6 months of hire is required.
• Proficiency with drafting software and ability to learn new design concepts.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level engineering calculations, design and drafting for transportation projects including sidewalks, bike paths, local roads, highways and related facilities.
• Assist with site visits, CAD drafting, geometric roadway layout and design, 3D modeling, and cost estimates.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project correspondence under supervision.
• Contribute to budget and schedule monitoring for simple project tasks.
