The Transportation Design Engineer will perform moderate to advanced engineering calculations, alternatives analysis, design, and drafting for a range of transportation projects, including sidewalks, bike paths, local roadways, intersections, highways, freeways, and other transportation facilities. Duties include site visits, CAD mark‑ups, geometric roadway layout and design, 3D corridor modeling, specification writing, technical reporting, construction quantity calculations, cost estimating, client coordination, and project correspondence. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, a desire to learn new design concepts, excellent organization and communication skills, proficiency in at least one design and drafting software platform, and the ability to work independently and mentor less experienced colleagues.
Team player capable of following directions on large, complex projects and leading a small team on simple tasks. Anticipates the needs of other technical disciplines and takes responsibility for their results.
Strong understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets. Able to predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort, consistently meeting budget and schedule expectations.
Frequent client communications, resolving issues on small projects, attending client meetings, and selecting appropriate communication tools such as email, phone, or in‑person.
