Job summary

Parsons in North Carolina is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to work under the direction of a degreed engineer, performing basic to moderately-difficult engineering support, drafting notes and drawings, and learning how equipment, facilities, and systems fit together within transportation engineering.

You'll use a CAD workstation to prepare drawings, familiarize yourself with ANSI, PFI, ASME codes, and develop practical knowledge in design; previous CAD/OpenRoads exposure is

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an Engineering curriculum at an accredited college/university.
• Typically 1+ year of studies in a major Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Structural).
• Requirements include PC literacy.
• Working knowledge of design software (CAD, OpenRoads) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
• Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies. Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
• Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
