Job summary

Steel Dynamics is seeking a Transportation Coordinator in Columbus, MS to negotiate carrier rates and plan shipments that meet customer expectations. You will coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of shipments and receipts.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate rates with carriers
• Manage shipments by building loads and establishing a shipping plan to ensure customers’ needs are met or exceeded
• Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of shipments and/or receipts
• Maintain open communication and good relationships with carriers, customers and/or suppliers
• Track shipments from release of material to transportation to delivery to the customer
• Trouble shooting
• Freight invoice approval
• Meeting or exceeding department key measurements
