Job description

MEC is looking for full-time Transportation Construction Inspectors (TCI-1 or higher) with experience working on heavy highway, bridge, airport runways, taxiways, and other transportation construction projects. The positions will be located within the western PA area.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of procedures and techniques used in highway and bridge inspection.
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques used in performing tests on construction materials.
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in the collection and evaluation of technical data.
• Ability to read and interpret construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications.
• Ability to perform cost estimating, computations, and calculations.
• Ability to work independently and make technical decisions.
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word & Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and cloud-based systems such as Box and iPads.
• Must be physically capable of field work and possess a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Experience:

• At least three (3) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience, or at least one year of experience as a PennDOT TCI-1 or higher OR
• An Associate’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering.

Certifications:

• One of the following certifications is required:
• PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification
• NECEPT Field Technician Certification
• NICET Level II Certification or higher in Highway Construction
