Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks qualified Transportation Construction Inspectors for the Central PA Team. Role involves reviewing plans, performing material tests, and validating field measurements on projects for state agencies and turnpike commissions.

TN visa eligibility is limited. Ideal candidates have 1–4 years of construction inspection and a high school diploma or higher, with a valid driver’s license and pass of JMT’s vehicle screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–4 years of Construction Inspection Experience preferred.
• Mandatory driving license and ability to pass JMT’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, layouts, specifications and methods to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment and elevations.
• Gather and maintain field record documents.
• Make field notes and computations.

JMT’s is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team. Our primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and other Local Government agencies throughout our Central PA Region.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents
• Makes field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions And Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

Preferred Skills

• Client Requested certifications, including: NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician
• CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience

Preferred Experience

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Previous PennDOT and or PA Turnpike Inspection Experience

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
