Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks Construction Inspectors for PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects with on-site field duties in the Pittsburgh area. Immigrant sponsorship is not available except TN visa eligible candidates.

The team performs plan interpretation, site layout reviews, material testing (concrete/soils), measurements and documentation to ensure projects meet design and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; may be substituted for experience.
• 1-4 years of construction inspection experience.
• Computer proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, layouts, specifications and construction methods for compliance with laws and safety regs.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify elevations to ensure conformance with plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents and makes field notes.

JMT\'s Pittsburgh Construction Management Team is seeking inspectors to staff PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike assignments.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Performs routine tests on concreate, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents
• Makes field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions And Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT\'s Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience
• Computer Proficiency

Preferred Experience

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Client Requested certifications

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
