Transportation Construction Inspector

Location: Camp Hill, PA

We are seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team. Our primary clients include the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other Local Government agencies throughout Central PA.

The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction, focusing on structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Note: This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship, except for TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify levels, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavements to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
• Gather and maintain record documents.
• Make field notes and computations.

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Computer proficiency.
• Active driver's license and reliable motor vehicle, with successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Skills

• Client-requested certifications such as NICET Level 1 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
• NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician certifications.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician certification.
• Experience with CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
• 1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience.

Preferred Experience

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Previous PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Inspection Experience.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field, requiring physical activities such as bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects up to 25 lbs. Work conditions may include outdoor environments with heat, cold, wet, humid, or dry conditions.
