CDR Maguire Inc., a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for the upcoming construction season in 2025 for PennDOT District 8, Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg areas.

The Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) is responsible for consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and safety practices involved in construction and installation of work. The TCI prepares daily progress reports, maintains progress schedules, checks shop drawings and quotations for variations, keeps records of quantities and costs, and prepares payment claims.

Relocation or sponsorship are not available. Local candidates are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and health and safety plans.
• Verify that delivered materials conform to specifications.
• Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.
• Prepare and submit daily work reports.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Follow instructions and utilize office equipment and computers.
• Perform physical activities such as bending, stretching, kneeling, sitting, and standing.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.
• React appropriately to hazardous warnings and signals.
• Perform manual labor and work in adverse weather conditions infrequently.
• Limit exposure to chemicals.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Travel as required for duties or as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain a positive attitude to foster competence and pride.
• Perform other duties as required, consistent with the position.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education, with the ability to read, write, communicate in English, and perform basic math computations related to length, area, and volume. Construction inspection experience is not required but highly preferred.

Certifications required include:

• BS in Civil Engineering
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
• NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Technician Certification
• PennDOT/PTC CDS Certification
• ECMS experience
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification
