Job summary

DLZ Corporation invites applications for a Manager of Construction Engineering and Inspection – Transportation in Michigan. You will lead CEI services across transportation projects, oversee QA/QC testing, and guide field teams to deliver accurate records and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, a PE license, 15+ years of transportation CEI experience, and proven ability to develop proposals and manage staff. MDOT familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license required.
• 15+ years of CEI experience in transportation required.
• MDOT/LAPs familiarity preferred.
• Ability to be prequalified as Construction Engineer for Roadway/Bridges by MDOT.

Responsibilities

• Lead CEI services for DLZ’s Michigan operations.
• Perform CEI on transportation projects with specialized technical work.
• Supervise projects and mentor less experienced staff.
• Manage inspection and testing personnel and QA/QC on multiple projects.
• Lead business development and proposal preparation.
• Assist in developing proposals, change orders, budgets, and contract management.
• Review new procedures and coordinate startups as required.
• Conduct constructability reviews on transportation projects.
• Provide technical support for construction operations.
• Determine testing/inspection requirements from plans/specs.
• Oversee reporting of results to on-site client reps.
• Maintain records of test results and daily reports.
• Identify unusual results or site conditions and suggest corrections.
• Work safely per Health and Safety Plan.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
