Job summary

Woolpert seeks a Transportation Bridge Engineer to join the Transportation Design team in our Houston, TX office. You will work on bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related structures across multiple states, with mentoring from licensed engineers to build your technical and professional skills.

You will analyze and design transportation structures, prepare plans and calculations per AASHTO and DOT standards, and develop 3D models using MicroStation and OpenRoads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred) from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in transportation structures or structural design.
• Familiarity with TxDOT DM-4 and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work under the guidance of Licensed Professional Engineers on transportation structures projects.
• Assist in the analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related structural components.
• Support preparation of plans, specifications, and engineering calculations per AASHTO and state DOT standards.
• Utilize engineering software (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or structural analysis tools) to support design and drafting tasks.
• Aid in the development of 3D models and structural layouts for transportation infrastructure projects.
• Assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimating, and construction documentation.
