Job summary

Olgoonik is seeking a Transportation Assistant to coordinate the movement of commercial cargo. This 1st shift position runs Mon-Fri from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm on a temporary basis, with duties centered on staging, labeling, and tracking shipments to ensure secure, timely delivery.

The role involves handling Bills of Lading, maintaining shipment logs, and ensuring accurate reporting. A valid Driver's License is required and experience with related logistics processes is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred for advancement.
• Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) experience preferred where applicable.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepares staging labels for cargo and ensures correct equipment loading.
• Assigns seal numbers to domestic shipments to keep cargo secure in transit.
• Monitors shipments from dispatch to delivery receipt and records activity.
• Processes Bills of Lading and signs proofs of delivery.
• Maintains domestic shipment reports and accountability spreadsheets.
• Responds to delivery with proper documentation and sign-off.

Overview:

The Transportation Assistant shall provide for the arrangement of material movement of commercial carrier pick-up and delivery. 1st shift Temporary Mon-Fri 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepares staging labels to be placed on cargo, ensuring it is loaded in the proper equipment.
• Assigns seal numbers to each domestic shipment to ensure the cargo is secure and not tampered with while in transit.
• Monitors shipment from time the driver leaves the warehouse until receipt of shipment at destination.
• Processed Bill of landing is signed once the bolted seal is placed in the door of the equipment.
• Ensures that all domestic shipments are noted in the weekly, monthly, and yearly reports.
• Maintains spreadsheet on domestic shipment reports for accountability.
• Signs proof of delivery from the receiver on the delivery date.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

Education and/or Experience:

• Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) experience preferred.
• High School diploma/ bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Driving may be necessary.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude towards work and the team.
• Ability to operate skid steer, backhoe, mini-excavator, loader, trencher, etc.
