Job summary

Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston is seeking a Full-Time Transportation Assistant to support the Faith in Action Program. The role involves coordinating client transportation, maintaining records, and working with volunteers to ensure timely services.

Strong time management, verbal/written communication, and confidentiality are essential. A valid NYS driver’s license and experience with youth/family programs are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma.
  • Credentials: NYS Driver’s license; driving record acceptable by agency/insurer.
  • Experience: Two years’ experience with volunteer-based programs; two years with youth and families preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate transportation for CCSL clients via program vehicles and volunteers.
  • Enter transportation data into the transportation calendar and maintain records.
  • Schedule volunteer drivers; follow up with clients and volunteers as needed.
  • Assist with monthly data collection and volunteer management.
  • Attend agency functions and staff meetings; ensure client dignity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma

Credentials: Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.

Experience: Two years’ experience with volunteer-based programs.

At least two years’ experience working with youth and families preferred.

Previous experience with community relations, non-profit program coordination, or work with older adults is preferred.

General Description

Assists with ensuring the Faith in Action Program achieves its mission of assisting eligible individuals who need assistance to remain independent in their home with the support of trained and caring program volunteers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Check/respond to phone requests for client transportation.
  • Enters transportation information into transportation calendar.
  • Maintain with Volunteer Transportation Assistant for staff assigned transports and assist to schedule volunteer drivers. Follow-up with clients and volunteers as needed.
  • Provides transportation for clients in program vehicle.
  • Maintains accurate records in computer database.
  • Assist Director of Volunteer and Community Outreach with monthly data collection.
  • Assists Director of Volunteer and Community Outreach with volunteer management.
  • Complete weekly vehicle check list and mileage records.
  • Maintains positive relationships with volunteers, clients and community partners.
  • Assist Director of Volunteer and Community Outreach to strengthen and expand the program.
  • Attends agency functions, as requested.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Attends mandatory training.
  • Ensures that all CCSL clients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Respects confidentiality of all CCSL clients.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

  • Continuous use of a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.

  • Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations

  • Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals
  • Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques
