Job summary

The Transportation Assistant position is located under the Director's Office at the Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System. It focuses on ensuring that Beneficiary Travel, Special Mode Transportation, Fraud Prevention, and Ambulance billing programs meet compliance standards and on planning, coordinating, and evaluating clinical applications of patient transportation to improve veteran care and safety.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 in the Federal service.
• Specialized experience includes: extracting information and mileage from maps, interpreting transportation contracts, maintaining travel accounting records, preparing correspondence about transportation benefits/reimbursement, and analyzing data reports on volume and costs of transportation.

Responsibilities

Job description

This Transportation Assistant position is located under the Director's Office at the Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OKCVAHCS). The position works to ensure the Beneficiary Travel, Special Mode Transportation, Fraud Prevention, and Ambulance billing programs are in compliance, and is responsible for overall planning, coordination, implementation, management, and evaluation of clinical applications of patient transportation with particular emphasis on improving care and safety of veterans. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify at the GS-6 level if you fulfill the following qualifications:

• -SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: extracting information and mileage from a road atlas and city street maps; interpreting contracts for transportation services; controlling and maintaining accounting records for travel accounts; preparing correspondence regarding transportation benefits/reimbursement; and analyzing and creating data reports showing volume and costs of transportation.

Physical Requirements

No special physical exertion is required. The work is primarily sedentary though some work may require periods of standing. The regular and recurring work of the position involves sitting at a desk, conferences, meetings, ect., and occasional visits to activity work sites. Occasional use of automobile and public conveyances may be required. The work requires no special physical demands but will require some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending or sitting.
