Job summary

White Pass & Yukon Route, a historic transport and tourism company based in Skagway, Alaska, has two openings for Transportation Assistants. This is a full-time, seasonal position available early May to late September.

Responsibilities include greeting cruise ship guests on the pier, answering questions, assisting with loading/unloading shuttles, guiding guests to tours, and educating guests about WP&YR tour options.

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for Skagway and the White Pass product.
• Friendly, reliable and able to work in a team.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
• Public speaking to communicate information to the public and coworkers.
• Customer service experience is required.
• Able to stand for long periods and work outdoors.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Knowledge of Skagway and all tours that connect with the train.
• First Aid & CPR certification available via company course.

Duties:

• Greet cruise ship guests on the pier in a friendly and approachable way
• Field and answer questions from guests in a helpful and courteous manner
• Assist with loading/unloading shuttles and motor coaches in accordance with the Railroad Dock Transportation Plan
• Facilitate efficient guest movement on the pier
• Directing cruise ship passengers on pier to proper tour location
• Educate guests on the various WP&YR tour options
