ONE POSITION. TWO IMPORTANT ROLES.

DIISD is looking for a dedicated, organized, and compassionate professional to join our Early Childhood Education team.

This unique position combines Transportation Coordination with Family Services, helping ensure children arrive safely while connecting families with the resources and support they need to thrive.

$18.36 – $21.30 per hour

WHAT YOU'LL DO

TRANSPORTATION COORDINATION

Help make sure every child gets where they need to go safely and reliably.

• Coordinate transportation services across Early Childhood Education and Special Education

• Establish and maintain transportation routes with the transportation contractor

• Help ensure the safety of children and bus passengers

• Coordinate transportation needs with families, staff, and service providers

• Maintain knowledge of transportation rules and requirements

FAMILY SERVICES

Build connections that help children and families succeed.

• Connect families with community resources and services

• Support families with educational, personal, social, and child-related needs

• Assist with family intake, interviews, home visits, and parent meetings

• Support parent education, training, involvement, and family partnership activities

• Help coordinate health services including medical, vision, hearing, dental, and health and safety

• Build partnerships with community organizations, agencies, businesses, and services

• Support Policy Council activities and family engagement

• Maintain confidential child and family records

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Associate degree in Health and Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience related to coordinating services for children and families.

A minimum of two years of experience in a preschool or child care center is required, with willingness to complete an Associate degree or Family Service Credential within 18 months of hire when applicable.

YOU'LL ALSO BRING

• Knowledge of transportation systems, rules, and requirements

• Interest in supporting children and families

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Ability to build relationships with families, staff, and community partners

• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Michigan Licensing Standards preferred

• Training and group facilitation experience preferred

• Valid driver's license if driving is required for the assignment

• Regular and reliable attendance
