Job summary

Westborough Public Schools seeks a Transportation and Facilities Coordinator to manage K-12 student transportation and to support the Buildings and Grounds team in the Central Office. The role is part-time, AM hours (6:30am–10:15am) with 18.75 hours per week, reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations.

The position requires at least 3 years in a similar role, a preferred Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, and CORI/SORI background checks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar transportation/administrative role.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills required.
  • CORI, SORI and SAFIS background check per 603 CMR 51.00 required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage district student transportation operations and liaise with bus company and parents.
  • Coordinate with Buildings and Grounds for facilities support and schedule supervision.
  • Maintain accurate bus stops, routes, and reporting; support summer transportation and winter/summer programs.

Salary Range: $27,500 - $32,500 commensurate with experience(~$28-$33 per hour)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors orAssociate’s Degreestrongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experienceworking in a similar position
  • CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00

Job Summary:

The Transportation and Facilities Coordinator handles all aspects of student transportation for the District. Additionally, this position works in the Buildings and Grounds department in the Central Office providing administrative support for the management of the facilities staff.

  • Partners and collaborateswith department colleagues and specialists
  • Establishes effective relationships with transportation company, colleagues and parents
  • Utilizes technology in order toperform the vast majority of the role
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable

Transportation Duties

  • Establishes and maintains bus routes for K-12 students based on enrollment and communicates with parents for the new school year and as changes/additions are made
  • Serve as school district representative in responding to daily phone calls and visits from parents, members of the community, the bus company, and staff regarding bus concerns (including but not limited to) bus stops, bus drivers, traffic, and, oftentimes, emotional parental issues
  • Works with DPW for any road closures and buses being rerouted
  • DAILY contact with NRT (our big bus transportation company) regarding bus number changes, student address changes/adds/deletes
  • Constant communication B&G administrators on transportation issuesWorks with principals on student discipline issues on the buses
  • Functions as district liaison between Athletic Director, Fine Arts Director and school office personnel and NRT to schedule buses for athletic and music events and field trips and quotes costs as directed
  • Compiles information for state-mandated reporting
  • Recommends procedures to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the bus program.
  • Recommends procedures to enforce school bus contract regulations.
  • Provides student headcounts as needed
  • Maintains the bus information released to the public through the school website for bus stop accuracy and ensures accuracy in the PowerSchool program for bus assignments for all emergency notifications through ParentSquare
  • Responds to and resolves parents', community residents', and administrators' busing complaints and information regarding students’ needs
  • Organizes and oversees the transportation for the Summer School programs
  • Maintains daily NRT logbook for accuracy and for use with reviewing the monthly bill
  • Reviews monthly big and mini bus invoices for payment
  • Works with district’s unhoused liaison to get students to and from school
  • Coordinates middle school and high school late buses
  • Provides Administration with regular updates on transportation issues and reports to the business manager

Buildings and Grounds Duties

  • Oversees School Dude Facilities calendar
  • Invoices outside community organizations after events and tracks payment in full
  • Submits a weekly maintenance/custodial time sheet summary to payroll
  • Facilitates maintenance logs management
  • Submits custodial quarterly attendance incentive
  • Records custodian daily attendance into Frontline Absence Management
  • Collaborates with B&G administrators on summer projects and assists in scheduling
  • Schedules maintenance security weekend coverage Works with Town Moderator for bi-annual town meetings held at the WHS

TheTransportation and Facilities Coordinator does not have any supervisory responsibilities for other staff.
