Job summary

Westborough Community Education Programs seeks three dynamic Group Leaders to join our after-school team for the 2026-2027 school year in Westborough, MA. The role is part-time, Mon-Fri, 2:00 pm–6:00 pm, with 3.5–4 hour shifts.

You will supervise groups of students in Kindergarten through sixth grade, plan activities, ensure safety, and work with the Site Coordinator and WCE staff. CORI/SORI checks are required; bilingual skills are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• CORI, SORI and fingerprinting background checks required per 603 CMR 51.00.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Experience with children 4–12 in after-school/group settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of a group of students during after-school programming.
• Plan, lead, and supervise activities in indoor/outdoor settings.
• Maintain health, safety, and cleanliness in all activities.
• Communicate clearly with children, families, and staff; report injuries or concerns promptly.
• Attend staff meetings and required trainings; collaborate with Site Coordinator and WCE staff.

After-school staff will begin in the 2026-2027 school year.

Monday through Friday, 3.5 - 4 hour shift between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm

Job Goal

The Group Leader provides direct supervision of a group of students at the Community Education After School program site. The mission of the Community Education program is to provide safe, high-quality full-day programming to Westborough students in Kindergarten through sixth grade. The Community Education program operates from 2 pm to 6:00 pm, depending on the site.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Education: High schooldiploma or GED.
• CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
• Specialized Knowledge Preferred:
• CPR and First Aid certified preferred
• Child growth and development
• cultural proficiency
• social-emotional learning

Preferred Experience:

• At least one year of experience working with children ages 4-12, preferably in an after-school or group setting
• Experience working in a diverse public school setting
• Experience with students with special abilities, including students with physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
• Experience with English Language Learners

CENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

• Direct, organize, and supervise a group of students throughout daily activities and interact/engage with students during activities
• Work with the Site Coordinator to plan and implement developmentally-appropriate activities that support academic, social, and/or emotional development
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness in all activities
• Be a positive role model for students and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and other school and program staff
• Maintain communications with the Site Coordinator, including reporting all injuries, incidents, and student concerns accurately and promptly
• Provide students with clear and consistent expectations for behavior
• Attend staff meetings and participate in required training
• Complies with federal, state, and district regulations and policies as outlined in the Westborough Public Schools Employee Handbook and the Community Ed Handbook
• Any other relative duties as assigned.
