Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a bus aide to support students under the Director of Transportation. You will help students board and exit the bus, assist with seat belts, and monitor behavior during transit.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, be able to obtain Aide certification or present a state competency exam, and possess fluency in English. Training in first aid/CPR and bus procedures is required or to be obtained as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Aide certification or passing the state competency exam is preferred.
• First aid/CPR and bus training completed or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in getting on and off the bus and assist with seat belts or restraining devices.
• Supervise individual students or small groups while on the bus.
• Assist with bus lift equipment.
• Assist with record keeping and clean up tasks.
• Perform physical activities with students as required by IEP/504/health care/SAT plans.
• Maintain positive work habits.
• Perform duties efficiently and with or without close supervision.
• Participate in-service and/or related training programs to upgrade skills.

Supervisor: Director of Transportation

Qualifications

• High school diploma;
• Currently hold or previously held classification of Aide, or passage of state competency exam for Aide
• ability to use oral and written English fluently;
• ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions;
• ability to perform the physical activity required with specialized program;
• relevant first aid/CPR and bus training; relevant bus and specialized health procedures training as needed for assigned students.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist students in getting on and off the bus and assist students with fastening of seat belts or restraining devices.
• Supervise individual students or small groups of children while on the bus.
• Assist with bus lift equipment.
• Assist with record keeping and clean up tasks.
• Perform physical activities with students as required with applicable IEP, 504 plan, health care plan, or SAT plan.
• Maintain positive work habits.
• Perform duties efficiently and productively.
• Participate in-service and/or other related training programs to maintain or upgrade skills.

Evaluations
